  • Tier 1 : Computer Based Objective Written Test
  • Tier 2 : Descriptive Test

  5. This test has negative marking of 0.50 per wrong question.
  6. You will have 75 minutes to complete this test.

This test will be descriptive in nature and will be taken in pen and paper mode. In this test your writing skills will be tested.

  • First of all you will be invited to give this test if and only if you have secured minimum qualifying marks in TIER 1 + TIER 2.
  • This test is qualifying in nature. It means you just have to pass this test.
  • The marks taken in this test will not be considered for preparing your final merit or final selection.
  • The medium in which you want to give your computer skill test will have to be specified in the online application form.
  • If you haven't specified your medium of language in which you want to give skill test then English language will be considered as your medium of language and no further changes can be made in this regard. So please be careful while filling your application form.

Computer skill test for DEO Post

  • Required Typing Speed : 27 WPM
  • A passage of 2000-2200 key depressions or strokes will be given to you. And this piece of text will have to be type back in computer with required speed i.e., 8000 key depressions per hour or in simple language 27 Words Per Minute (WPM).

Final Selection

The final selection of any candidate is entirely depend on the marks taken in the first two tiers i.e., Tier 1 and Tier 2.

Final Merit = Marks Taken in Tier 1 + Marks Taken in Tier 2

The computer skill test is a qualifying nature test. It only means marks taken in the skill test / typing test will not be considered to prepare your merit but it is compulsory to qualify them with required typing speeds.

  1. sir a big confusion-( ref. Ssc chsl exam 2013):

cutt off for data entry posts was 127 and for ldc posts was about 122(for gen)

so if i score around 135, i will be called for data entry skill test, right?, but i checked the marks list and allotment list of candidates at ssc results website

i found that lowest marks for allotment of deo posts was 148-150 in written, and candidates with marks around 135-140 marks got ldc posts in final allotment

so i wanna ask if i score around 135 i would be called for deo typing test, but in reality i will be given a ldc post, because the people getting 148 and above marks will fill all deo posts,

so will i have to take the ldc skill test too in addition to the deo typing test for which i was called before(first paragraph) or will i be given ldc post on basis of my performance in deo typing test?

Whew! Long question but sir reply ASAP.

    1. 1. After the written test if you qualify for DEO (i.e; if you've obtained marks according to the cut-offs of DEO post) then you will be called for both DEST taken for DEO and Typing Test taken for LDC.

      2. If you fail to qualify for DEO (i.e; if your marks fits the cut-off for LDC then you will be called for typing test only.

      3. If you fail to achieve the minimum cut-off for LDC also then you won't be considered for any skill test.

      4. If you cleared both DEST and TT then you will be considered for the post that you've mentioned first.

    2. It will be available on 14th April. And yes it is 12th Level exam so eligibility will be +2.

  3. sir a situation: (suppose)-

    1. I scored 130 marks in chsl exam, cutt off for deo posts- 127, and for ldc post- 122.

    2. I get called for both Dest and ldc-st.

    3. I qualify in Dest but fail in ldc-st.

    4. My preference is D E l O.

    5. So i should be considered for a deo post.

    6. But deo post are all filled. As general trends suggest, all many 150+ scorers have qualified Dest, and deo posts. And hence all deo posts are filled.

    7. So i should be given a ldc post but i failed in ldc-st.

    8. So in this situation what post will i get??

    9. Short points-
    - i scored 130, greater than both deo and ldc cuttoff
    - failed ldc-st, qualified dest
    - all deo posts are filled
    because of 150+ scorers
    - should get ldc post but failed ldc-st
    - what happens then

    1. Then there are other posts for which you can be considered but here SSC reserves the full right whether to give you a job or not.

  4. i was preparing for chsl exam 2014, but i met with a car accident in april '14, it took me around 2 months to heal, now that i am back on my feet i want to re-start my preparation from level zero, its been around 2 and a half months since i have touched a book, so i want to restart my preparation with full force. But i am afraid as only 4 months are left and the task at hand is huge. So should i shift my focus to 2015 chsl or should i continue the struggle for 2014 ssc. What should i do? Please help sir..

    1. Prepare for 2014 CHSL Exam and if it is cleared then your tensions will get a kick. And if you don't clear it then prepare yourself for next CHSL i.e 2015. You will have 1 year for 2015.

And if you don't give 2014 CHSL then after 2 month or so you'll think like.

"Agar Maine 2014 wala CHSL diya hota kya pata clear ho gaya hota"

Give this exam and if failed don't worry prepare yourself for next.

  6. sir, emergency!

i am a collage student, but i want to get a job. at +2 level, ssc chsl
    is the best.

a few days before, i saw the exam plan for 2014 that ssc has made and it
says chsl will commence on 2nd and 9th nov, the notification will be
    released on 19th, this month

i just came across this site a couple of days back. the strategy is very
good. now that around less than 4 months are left i really want to
    start preparing

sir i have never prepared for any competitive exam ever but i really
want to crack chsl '14. i am completely new to competitive exams and
    also chsl

sir do i have a chance, i am completely new to this exam, how can i
crack it? more importantly, can i crack it given that less than 4 months
are left and i am completely new to chsl?

    sir please reply fast..

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You can start preparation. You just need to focus your mind to the exam only. You can crack this exam even in 2 and half months. Don't waste your time thinking stupid questions.

"kya main exam clear kar paonga ya nahi"

Just gather the books provided in the strategy and start as soon as possible. I have seen people who cracked this exam with 2 months preparation but the only thing behind their success was a backbreaking hard word of 7 to 8 hours of study.

But don't worry you have 4 months just gather the material.

And don't forget to start practicing typing as their is a typing test. Sometime people gets success in cracking the written exam but failed to crack typing test.

      Good Luck

sir, these were the words that i needed the most. if you are saying
that there are people who cracked a mountain like chsl in 2 months, it
must be true, and i am ready to believe it. i am gonna do it. and by
this time ,next year, i'll be sure to send sweets to your house, 7-8
hrs? thats something that i can definitely do and i'll be sure to break
    my back

    1. Sir the strategy is very good. I have collected all the books. How to i start the preparation? The syllabus is huge.. And time is short.
    2. Our time is running out, how to use the 3 and a half month to the best of my advantage?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You have over 100 days for the preparation. Trust you can crack this exam. Divide you time table like the following:

      1. Maths - Daily 1 and half hour
      2. Reasoning - Daily 1 Hour
      3. English - daily 1 hour
      4. GK - 2 hours daily

You have to study atleast 5 to 6 hours daily. Set the targets for every week and put your hard work in achieving those targets.

For next 3 and half months forget everything from facebook to friends if you are serious about this exam.

formulas and concepts are revised during this week and then exam is
    taken.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Just two lines to becomes strong in maths:

      1. Learn and revise all the concepts, formulas and short-cut methods given in Quantum Cat book.

      2. Practice, regular Practice and more practice of questions from your quantitative aptitude book and kiran's previous years questions book.

It is not like a bank exam where you have to get minimum marks in each section to qualify. You have to get the marks in totality or aggregate in all the four topics.

The real cut-offs will be released after declaration of results of written test.

    1. First of all just relax yourself. And remove this thing...Am i gonna successful in this SSC stuff or not. Because this stupid thing will give you nothing but only tension, depression and other stupid things which atleast I don't want in my life.

So coming to your question "is this sufficient there is just 1&1/2 month how would i complete total syllabus with in short period of time...i am good at mathematics and hard working person so in which topics are easy to complete early with more marks"

I think I have completed everything in my strategies regarding what is important and what is not for every topic.

I don't want to give you any fake and stupid promises that "yeah you can clear this exam boy in one month".

See syllabus completion is not much important. After the completion of syllabus Revision is important. Don't worry if you don't clear this exam this try next year. And this is not the only exam from which you can get a government job. There are others also like SBI PO, SBI CLERK, SSC CGL, STENO, MTS, RBI ASSISTANT, Grade B, etc.

Just start your practice and learning.

    everything is going well
bt it takes so much time to answer the whole ques. as compared to that is required according to the examination
how can I improve my speed

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. You can try these tips for increasing the speed. Actually in competition exams increasing the speed doesn't mean that you have to solve the question faster by writing fast.

What it actually mean is you have to avoid the things which are not worth taking the time.

      1. Do more things in your brain rather to write it. It's not about how you solve the answer. You should mark the correct answer, really doesn't matter how you get it!

Try to do small calculations in your mind like add, subtract, multiply, divide in your mind (atleast 2 to 3 digits). Initially it will take time to master but with the passage of time you will have master over it.

      3. Try to solve all 40 or 50 questions in one piece of paper. Reason in bank exams you will be provide 1 sheet only sometimes 2 and in SSC exams you are not provided any piece of paper for rough work, yeah you have to do those thing in the space provided at the bottom of the every page of the question paper.

      2. Please try to learn the small things which Sarvesh Sir has recommended in his Quantum Cat book like he has prepared a SQUARE TABLE in the Chapter-1, Fundamentals topic SQUARE. 2X2=4, 4X4=16.

I know you can think like why the hell I need to learn the square of a 16 when I can get this by multiplying the 16 with the 16. It will take you atleast 10-12 sec to get the 256. But it will take 1/4th of 1 second if you have learn the SQUARE TABLE.

Although he has prepared a table upto 100. But you should atleast learn the table upto 20 or 25.

In each chapter he has given small things (tips) which will be very helpful for cutting the extra which you take while the question normally.

But the date and venue of skill test declared after sometime. You will get both email and sms alert.

I want you to read these 3 articles related to skill test:

for LDC a typing test is held but actually I want to know what type of test is for DEO
please clear it sir ,what I have to do when I clear d DEO cut off marks

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. There is not any difference between the both. You have to do same thing in both the tests and that is typing. The only difference is you have to take marks upto or above the cut-off decided for DEO not for LDC.

Let's say the cut-offs for both the posts for your region is decided as

      DEO: 120
      LDC: 114

You have taken 121 marks then you will selected for the typing tests of both DEO and LDC posts.

And to qualify for LDC post you have to type the text at the speed of 35 wpm and in the typing test of DEO you have to type at the speed of 27 wpm.

And finally because you have taken marks above the cut-off decide for DEO post that means you will give typing test for both the posts. And the rest will be decided by the SSC.

    My name is Anand.
Sir i want to know about the skill test in ssc chsl .Sir i know that we will be given "the software for typing " in ssc chsl skill test .
But i want to clarify one thing that whether the material for typing (or the passage) will be given on the printed page(hard copy) copy,or the material will be already there on the software itself. Because it will take more time to see the passage in the hardcopy and then type in the computer....

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The passage of 350 to 400 words will be given in the printed format and you'll have to type the same on the computer screen.

I know it is more time taking but the truth is software on which you learn typing are just to give you an idea the idea to your fingers where are the keys on the keyboard.

That is why I always recommend to type on Notepad/Wordpad. You should practice typing the passages from the random books on the Notepad/Wordpad.

    1. Hello Vivek. Relax mere bhai!

First of all I can see that you want to crack any of the two exam i.e., SSC CGL or CHSL. As you said that you are in last year of Graduation that simply means you can only give one 1 exam and that CHSL. WHY? Because the official news of the exam will come in the April 2015 for CGL and at the time of registration for the exam you have to be Graduate. So CGL next year boy.

BUT no worries. You can give CHSL and I have provided the syllabus, book and strategy to crack every single topic of the exam. The links to each article are provided at the bottom of the above article.

AND Remember start practice typing because in the second stage there is a test of your typing speed and that is 35 words per minute.

      GOOD LUCK!

      # 2: Typing test

And in SSC CGL there are also two levels but first level is divided into 2 tiers.

      # 1: There are two written tests called TIER - I and TIER - II

      ----> Tier-I: Same as CHSL Objective Written Test of 4 topics i.e GK, Reasoning, Maths, Eng each carrying 50 marks. {Total: 200 marks}

      ----> Tier-II: Objective Written Test of Eng & Maths each carrying 200 marks {Total: 400 Marks}

      # 2: For some posts there is interview and for some there is typing tests.

Online is much better as you just need to click the right option and if you've marked the wrong option you can easily remove the wrong one with right option. And that wasn't possible when you mark the option with pen on the paper.

      1. SSC CGL (for officers/assistants) for Graduates only: 3 stages---2 written tests and and for some posts there is interview, for some typing test and some are those which you can take directly if you are successful in clearing written test.

      2. SSC CHSL (for clerks): two stages--- written test and typing test. You should have at least over 38 wpm to clear the exam.

      3. SSC steno (for stenographers): two stages----written test and stenography test (also taken on the computer)

      4. SSC MTS (for peons and similar posts): written test and a little descriptive test of qualifying nature like writing a letter or essay.
